More Information

This video explains how to create a Shock Response Spectrum (SRS).

  • Step 1: Open ‘Data Channels’ with a double click.
  • Step 2: Select one or several input channels and click on ‘Add Channel’.
  • Step 3: Add a new SRS module and enter a group name.
  • Step 4: Define the start and stop frequency as well as the frequency resolution (band).
  • Step 5: In the calculation settings, first configure damping using either Q-factor or damping ratio and choose the spectrum type (absolute maximum, maximum, or minimum).
  • Step 6: Define then the calculation timeframe using manual range selection or linked cursors.
  • Step 7: Enter SRS outputs in the form of acceleration, velocity, or displacement, along with acceleration-time responses of the SDOF systems for each selected frequency.
  • Step 8: You can now see the SRS modules in the channel list.
  • Step 9: Go to ‘Instrument Properties’ and activate Cursors.
  • Step 10: Select A/B linked channels and activate your SRS group.
  • Step 11: Use the A/B cursors to select the Analysis time window.
  • Step 12: Acceleration, Velocity, and Displacement results are plotted over frequency in an Array Chart.
  • Step 13: Individual acceleration-time response are displayed in a Recorder.
  • Step 14: Readjust the timeframe via cursor positions if necessary.
