TRIONet3 - The universal measuring solution

DEWETRON embodies precision with its high-quality measuring instruments designed for many years of reliable use. We value a design characterized by modularity and flexibility, ensuring effortless customization to meet your specific requirements. Among our most adaptable and user-friendly measurement hardware are the TRIONet3 systems. Discover more about TRIONet3 and what sets it apart in this blog post.
What is TRIONet3?
TRIONet3 is a powerful front-end DAQ system and the successor of the TRIONet. It is the ideal high-speed measurement extension for your PC or further DEWETRON systems. Connected either via USB 3.0 or Gigabit-Ethernet, it can be distributed over long distances. The TRIONet3 nodes may be located up to 100 m (328 feet) apart from each other and still work together synchronously.

Each TRIONet3 has two slots customizable with our flexibly exchangeable measurement modules. Choose from our wide range of available modules, and transform your TRIONet3 into a full-fledged power analyzer, enable GPS localization or provide additional synchronization options. Enjoy the convenience of backward compatibility, enabling the use of modules from both the new TRION3 series and the previous TRION series. Further, you can connect several TRIONet3s to your PC and expand your measurement setup according to your individual requirements. The TRIONet3 systems also have a clever snap-in function, allowing the chassis of individual systems to connect to each other (see Fig. 2).

Measurement solutions with TRIONet3
As TRIONet3 is a very compact and flexible device, optimal for distributed measurements of current, voltage and mechanical as well as acoustic parameters. It can therefore be used for a wide range of applications.
An example is its use in trains or other types of transport for measuring and monitoring electrical, thermal and mechanical parameters. In such cases, the individual front ends are mounted at different locations on the train and connected to a PC or a DEWETRON system. All that remains is to synchronize all devices via the integrated synchronization unit and start recording. Seamlessly store or evaluate your recordings in real-time using our intuitive measurement software OXYGEN. It provides numerous options, allowing you to identify mechanical faults through CPB analysis, assess powertrain efficiency by plotting apparent, reactive, and active power, conduct an NVH analysis for comfort assurance and more. Alternatively, use any measurement software of your choice or evaluate data using Python or C++. The flexibility of OXYGEN and compatibility with popular programming languages ensure that you have the freedom to analyze and interpret data in a way that suits your preferences and requirements.

How to configure TRIONet3
Even though TRIONet3 is a highly extensive device, the configuration of a single system or even a multi-system network is straight forward. Here’s a step-by-step guide to set up your TRIONet3 network effortlessly:
- Download and install the TRION package
Obtain the TRION package “DEWETRON-TRION-Applications-x.x.exe” from our download center, which includes comprehensive package includes essential drivers, APIs, and the DEWETRON-Explorer. - Startup and connection
Launch TRIONet3 and wait for it to boot up. Next connect TRIONet3 to your PC using your preferred interface, such as USB3. TRIONet3 seamlessly communicates with the PC, automatically obtaining an assigned IP address. Manual configuration is also an option if required. - DEWETRON Explorer
Open the DEWETRON Explorer to view your TRIONet3 and additional related information. Confirm a successful connection with a “connected” symbol on the TRIONet3’s touch display. Your TRIONet3 is now ready for utilization in OXYGEN or other environments.
As you can see, the configuration of a TRIONet3 is very simple.
In summary, the TRIONet3 is a compact high-speed data acquisition system, even across distributed locations. It communicates seamlessly via Ethernet or USB 3.0 and operates intuitively with our measurement software OXYGEN. It is easily customizable with two TRION(3) modules, making it adaptable to various needs, even as a power analyzer.
