Sie f\u00fchren unter Umst\u00e4nden zu sehr hohen Spannungsspitzen im Stromkreis \u2013 sogenannten Transienten. Auch wenn diese Transienten oft nur Bruchteile einer Sekunde andauern, k\u00f6nnen sie hohen Schaden anrichten: Ger\u00e4te, die nicht auf hohe Spannungsspitzen ausgelegt sind, werden m\u00f6glicherweise durch jene zerst\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n<p>Diese Tatsache machte sich in den Anf\u00e4ngen des elektrischen Bahnverkehrs schmerzlich bemerkbar: Als man damals versuchte die Versorgungsspannung von Personenz\u00fcgen zu messen, gaben die meisten Messger\u00e4te nach kurzer Zeit den Geist auf. Dies lag daran, dass Verkehrsz\u00fcge bei Start- und Bremsvorgang hohe Spannungsspitzen erzeugen k\u00f6nnen. F\u00fcr diese Transienten waren die Messger\u00e4te nicht ausgelegt und wurden daher zerst\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n<p>Doch nicht immer bleibt es nur bei defekten Messger\u00e4ten. Grade bei Blitzschl\u00e4gen kann es ebenfalls zu Personensch\u00e4den kommen. Misst man beispielsweise w\u00e4hrend eines Blitzschlages den Strom im Verteilerkasten, ist die Gefahr einer Verletzung hoch.<\/p>\n<p>Um diesem Umstand gerecht zu werden, ist es wichtig die Grenzen seiner Messger\u00e4te zu kennen. Man sollte sich daher immer fragen: \u201aH\u00e4lt mein Messger\u00e4t die maximal zu erwartende Spannungsspitze stand?\u2018. Ist dies nicht der Fall, sollte man zuliebe der eigenen Gesundheit ein anderes Messger\u00e4t nutzen.<\/p>\n\n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n          <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"\" class=\"wp-block-text-columns margin-bottom-small\n      \">\n  <div class=\"container\">\n    <div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n              <div class=\"col-12\">\n          <h2>Die CAT-Messkategorien<\/h2>\n          <div class=\"content-size-normal\">\n            <p>Oft ist es jedoch schwierig aus Datenbl\u00e4ttern herauszulesen, wie gut ein Ger\u00e4t gegen Transienten gesch\u00fctzt ist. Damit dies einfacher gelingt, wurden die sogenannten <em>CAT-Messkategorien <\/em>eingef\u00fchrt. Jene geben in einfacher weise an, f\u00fcr welche Bereiche ein Messger\u00e4t geeignet ist und wo es besser nicht angewendet werden sollte. Die Messkategorien beziehen sich prim\u00e4r auf die Verwendung in Haushalten, sie sind aber auch dar\u00fcber hinaus anwendbar. Laut IEC 61010-2-030 gelten folgende Definitionen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CAT I:<\/strong> Geeignet f\u00fcr Messungen an Stromkreisen die nicht mit dem Stromnetz verbunden sind (z.B. batteriebetriebene Spielzeuge oder Laptops).<\/li>\n<li><strong>CAT II:<\/strong> Geeignet f\u00fcr Messungen an Stromkreisen die mittels Stecker an das Niederspannungsnetz verbunden sind (z.B. K\u00fcchenmixer oder TV-Ger\u00e4te).<\/li>\n<li><strong>CAT III:<\/strong> Geeignet f\u00fcr Messungen an Stromkreisen der Geb\u00e4udeinstallation (z.B. Steckdosen oder Verteilerk\u00e4sten).<\/li>\n<li><strong>CAT IV:<\/strong> Geeignet f\u00fcr Messungen an Stromkreisen die direkt mit der Quelle der Niederspannungsinstallation verbunden sind (z.B. Hausanschlusskasten, Z\u00e4hlerkasten oder Freileitungen zu einzelnen Geb\u00e4uden).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24377 size-full\" title=\"CAT-categories\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dewetron.com\/app\/uploads\/2024\/09\/CAT-e1633677579526.jpg\" alt=\"m\u00f6gliche Klassifikation der Messkategorien\" width=\"2455\" height=\"466\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>M\u00f6gliche Ger\u00e4te die den einzelnen Kategorien zugeordnet werden<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nDie einzelnen Kategorien werden au\u00dferdem noch durch die verwendbare Nennspannung (gegen Erde) unterteilt. So gibt es jeweils eine zus\u00e4tzliche Aufteilung in die Werte 300 V\/600 V\/1000 V. Demgem\u00e4\u00df kann ein Messger\u00e4t beispielsweise CAT II-300V oder auch CAT II-600 V bzw. CAT II-1000V zertifiziert sein. Ein CAT II-600V Powermeter verf\u00fcgt gleichzeitig \u00fcber einen noch besseren Schutz als ein CAT II-300V Powermeter.
