The DEWE-3108 is the original "DEWE-NOTEBOOK" computer. We searched the world looking at ruggedized notebooks, but we were always less than thrilled with the lack of hot-swappable batteries and a full-size PCI slot. No, not a little PCMCIA card slot -- a real PCI slot, so that both we and our customers could install whatever is needed. Another important criteria was all metal construction -- because our systems are used at the heart of data acquisition systems, we need the isolation and immunity from EMI/RFI that could interfere with your measurements.

What's inside?
First, the processor is a state of the art CoreDuo 2.0 GHz processor from Intel. Next, we install a notebook size HDD due to their smaller size, power requirements, and enhanced shock and vibration specifications. There is a standard size PCI slot inside, allowing a REAL A/D card to be used! Dual gigabit Ethernet interfaces, four USB 2.0 interfaces, Firewire IEEE-1394 and RS232 serial round out the interfaces.

A Real PCI Slot Inside
The DEWE-3108 has a real PCI slot, so you can add your own card and turn it into the instrument that you need. For mobile applications, nothing beats the DEWE-3108, because it features our unique SideHAND(TM) power system, allowing it to run for hours without any external power connected (batteries are recharged automatically when you connect the system to external power).

Applications
The ideal base platform for a data acquisition system, the DEWE-3108 makes if often combined with our DEWE-BOOK and DEWE-RACK signal conditioning front-ends. But that's just the beginning: our customers are finding unique and interesting applications every day for such a robust and portable notebook style computer!

Aerospace - insert a 1553 or PCM interface card and software, and you make a portable ground station or flight line test system
Test - insert a GPIB or related interface card and create a rugged test computer
Field service - with or without a PCI card inside, there is no better field-worthy computer for field service people to use
Energy exploration and logging - DEWE-3108's are finding their way to offshore oil rigs, as well as drilling ships and ice breakers up near the arctic circle.
