Modular Smart Interfaces (MSI)
Add-on for HSI, DAQP and MDAQ signal conditioning modules to expand measurement functionality. MSIs can be used with DEWE-43 and DEWE-101, too.
Modular Smart Interfaces (MSI) bring an expanded level of flexibility to your measurement system. MSIs expand the functionality of many amplifier modules and enable customers to use a bridge amplifier (e.g. DAQP-STG) for measuring also IEPE®, Thermocouple, Pt100 to Pt2000, charge or voltage up to 200 V.
A complete MSI series for DEWETRON voltage and bridge amplifiers is available. See table below.
Key features:
- Expand functionality of bridge and voltage inputs
- Automatically detected
- Easy channel setup in the right engineering units
- Versions for voltage, thermocouple, RTD, IEPE® and charge sensors

As soon as the MSI is connected to a voltage or bridge amplifier module of DAQP or MDAQ series, DEWESoft software recognizes it and automatically modifies the amplifier setup - for example a voltage input is changed to ICP® input - so that user errors are avoided and the correct scaling can be directly applied. All MSI’s are the size of a Sud-d-9 housing, which contains the electronics as well as the sensor connector.
Since many MSIs do not incur bandwidth limitations (exceptions would be a charge with 100 kHz), the bandwidth of the amplifier utilized equals the final bandwidth. For instance, the user can employ an isolated bridge amplifier with 300 kHz bandwidth and add a MSI-BR-ACC to change to ICP® input. The user then gets an isolated ICP® amplifier with 300 kHz of bandwidth and can thus connect acceleration sensors.
If the user needs a very fast thermocouple amplifier, a MSI-BR-TH can be used to do a feature change to thermocouple input. This is then plugged into, for instance, an isolated bridge amplifier; and thus an isolated thermocouple amplifier with a bandwidth of 300 kHz can be obtained.
The miniature electronics of each MSI sensor also contain an EEPROM, in which the identification and calibration data of the MSI are stored. Both are read automatically by the DEWESoft software and entered accordingly into the setup.
MSIs are very affordable, can be bought at any point as a single component and can be utilized on various systems.
